- Updated: May 23, 2016
Cannons stall the Hustle 29-24 in a commanding home victory!
It’s happening again folks; the Cannons are catching fire entering the second half of the season! Key roster additions like Bobby Ley, Tanner Repasky and Andrew McKelvey, combined with Andrew Roney coming off the IR, have added dimension to the offense and resilience to the defense. Repasky and McKelvey combined for 5 D’s against the Hustle. Player of the Game, Travis Catron, added another 2.
All in all, the Legion of Boom was in full effect with 17 total D’s against Atlanta! Catron also played the most points, which doesn’t surprise at all. His talent and versatility have made him a mainstay on the offensive line and a crucial part of key defensive points. Mischa Freystaetter continues to lead the league in goals with 43 and has regained the top spot in the plus/minus category at +59. Stephen Poulos and Cole Sullivan both remain on the league-wide assist leader board with 31 and 32 respectively.
Undoubtedly Bobby Ley would be up there with them had he started back in April. After besting Atlanta, the Cannons now sit in third place in the AUDL South at 4-3, boasting a winning record for the first time in 2016. Next up are the Raleigh Flyers and Charlotte Express in a weekend doubleheader. Saturday at 8PM, ESPN3 will feature the Cannons at Raleigh in what’s sure to be another thriller. Sunday the Cannons scoot over to Charlotte for a tough Sunday match-up on the road. Two road wins would move the Cannons firmly into the second seat in the division. BOOM!
